Here is a tip that I don’t see many people talking about
Did you know you can quickly change your viewport view angle?
If you would prefer to watch my video version, check it out here
Normally to switch viewport views we need to head to the top left of our viewport and use the menu show below. To be more efficient we could try using the keyboard shortcuts shown but they are a bit random and aren’t particularly easy to remember.
However, a much more fluid way that allows you to stay in the flow of working is to HOLD CTRL on your keyboard and then press and HOLD MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON, this creates a thin line from your start point, to where the mouse ends, as you can see in my gif below.
Then when you RELEASE THE MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON, depending on which direction your mouse is from the start position, you will switch to a different viewport angle:
Release Top = Orthagraphic Top View
Release Bottom = Orthagraphic Bottom View
Release Left = Orthagraphic Back View
Release Right = Orthagraphic Front View
Release Top Left = Orthagraphic Right View
Release Top Right = Orthagraphic Left View
Release Bottom Right = Perspective View
This can be really handy when you find yourself working on a level and wanting to quickly check your scene from a few different angles, as in my example below
This works the same way in Unreal Engine 5 as well.
This is a quick tip that if you build into your normal workflow can save you a bit of time.
